PV Sports Desk : Gritty knocks from captain Virat Kohli and opener Rohit Sharma, complemented by a dazzling cameo from Yuvraj Singh, have guided India to 319 against arch-rivals Pakistan in a rain-hit Champions Trophy game.
Rohit led the superb batting show by carving out a supple 91 off 119 balls with the help of seven boundaries and two sixes.
He set up a strong base by pairing in a 136-run opening stand with Shikhar Dhawan (68) but Kohli and Yuvraj stole the show with their stunning strokeplay in the Group B game. The tie was truncated to 48 overs by intermittent showers at Birmingham on Sunday.
Building on the base and a 56-run stand between Rohit and Kohli (81 not out), the skipper and Yuvraj made sure that India would finish on a high note by cracking 93 runs off 58 balls for the third wicket.
After Pakistan asked the men in blue to bat first, pacers Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim varied their pace brilliantly in their opening spells.
