PV Desk : More than four hundred people have been accused in a case by police for setting fire to the hill tribe homes in Rangamati.
Demonstrators protesting the death of a local Jubo league leader had committed the acts of arson on Friday.
Fifteen persons and 400 unnamed suspects have been accused of arson, assault and attacking police in the case, said Langdu Police Station OC Mominul Islam.
Seven have been detained by police in connection with the arson. The curfew imposed on the Langdu Sadar Upazila and the surrounding areas has now been lifted.
Rangamati District Commissioner Mohammad Manzarul Mannan and Superintendent of Police Sayeed Tariqul Hassan inspected the scene of the violence on Saturday. Later they met with local leaders at the district administration office to discuss security issues.
