Debutant spinner Sunzamul Islam has struck in his first over to take out Ed Joyce as Bangladesh piled pressure on Ireland in their third game of the tri-nation series.
Having seen his team through almost 29 overs, opener Joyce (46) danced down the track but missed the pitch of the ball. His skier was caught by Tamim Iqbal, giving southpaw Sunzamul a fine start to his ODI career at Dublin’s Malahide on Friday.
In the previous over, Joyce’s 55-run recovery stand with Niall O’Brien was ended by Mustafizur Rahman. Niall (30) threw his bat wide of the offstump and ball flew straight to Tamim Iqbal in third man.
Before that, Shakib Al Hasan went through the gates of Andy Balbirnie (12) with an arm ball to settle the score with the batsman after getting hit for a six in his previous over to leave Ireland struggling on 61-3.
In the same over Mushfiqur Rahim failed to hold on to an edge from Niall O’Brien.
